Getting Started Whether you are interested in moving trees or having some trees planted here are some steps that will be helpful to prepare for the process. If you are having new trees planted, disregard the the steps that pertain to the tree preparation. Take a look at the site of the tree as well as the receiving site. Do you see any obstacles or limitations on the type or size of equipment that can access either site? A typical tree truck is about the size and weight of a cement mixer or dump truck. It is important to make sure both tree and receiving sites are clear of underground lines. There may be public utilities (as well as your own) buried underground that you don't know about. You can have these located for free by calling 811 on your phone. This service does not always mark all underground utilities and some may be your responsibility to locate. These include but are not limited to sprinkler lines, sewer or septic lines, gas, water, electric, ext.. To get ready a Tree ready for tree transplanting it would be best if you can gather some information on it. Measure the trunk diameters about 6-12 inches above the ground. If you can Identify the tree type or species it would also be beneficial. Pre water the root ball of the trees if possible.
